I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Hamilton College, USA. Trained as a linguistic and cultural anthropologist, I am interested in language ideologies, cultural production, and what happens when they intersect. My research concerns contemporary Taiwan and its unique sociolinguistic contribution to the regional and global soundscape. I have conducted research with voiceover professionals, souvenir salespeople, and Formosan elderlies to understand how they deploy available semiotic resources to navigate various forms of sociocultural and political complexities.
